Sioux Narrows Bridge October 2007 UPDATE!
During the winter of 2007 the new Bridge is finally complete with the timber beams cosmetically attached preserving the look and feel of the original. The temporary bridge can be seen on the left and will soon be removed in Spring 2008. The new Sioux Narrows Bridge is wider and much stronger than the original while keeping the visual aspects of the original 210-foot 71 year old wooden Bridge.

Sioux Narrows Bridge May 2005
They just finished taking down the old bridge the other day and all that remains are the concrete pillars
and roadway leading up to where the bridge was. The barges underneath the old bridge acting as a support are now
gone and the channel is clear for navigating a boat through. Will follow up with some photo's this weekend.

Sioux Narrows Bridge proposal
April 4, 2004 - The second of three public meetings regarding the bridge was held last week March 30, 2004. They have it narrowed it down to three options,
the first option is a steel frame with existing wooden trusses placed on top for looks (Photo-3B). The second option
(Photo-3C) is to have a regular steel bridge with no over head trusses for vehicle's, and use parts of the old bridge
to construct a wooden walk bridge along one side. The third option is an all steel frame (with no scissor trusses) and setting the
old bridge on land near by (photo-4). Which do you think would suit Sioux Narrows best? Post made by Kevin, 04-Apr-04, 02:21 PM

Sioux Narrows Bridge in trouble!
November 15, 2003 - Did you hear about the Sioux Narrows Bridge being open to only one lane traffic & they put
up stop lights on each side? They said because it did not do well on it's last test a while ago.
What a sad way for our bridge to end up, I haven't heard if they plan to
rebuild it, I would assume they would have to because replacing it would not
be easy, they have no room on either side to build another one.
I took these pictures the day after they put up the lights.
